How To Stay Enthusiastic

I think it is not a question of how anymore, but rather on what makes Pinoy enthusiastic. The answer of course, can be anything. Pinoys always find reason to get together and have fun: Christmas, New Year, all soul’s day, birthdays, christenings, graduation, retirement, fiesta, a family member coming home from abroad, a going away party, reunion, weddings and so much more. There will always be food on the table, someone singing on the karaoke and a few drinks of beer for anyone.

According to Wikipedia: “Enthusiasm originally meant inspiration or possession by a divine afflatus or by the presence of a god. Johnson's Dictionary, the first comprehensive dictionary of the English language, defines enthusiasm as "a vain belief of private revelation; a vain confidence of divine favour or communication." In current English vernacular the word simply means intense enjoyment, interest, or approval.”

The modern meaning of enthusiasm is being energetic, having the joys and wonders to live in the moment. They enjoy themselves and they have a zest for life.

The modern version is much like the attitude of most Pinoys. Our ability to stay positive amidst poverty, problems and heartaches makes us go through whatever it is that we are going through no matter how difficult it is. This is also the reason why we are able to sacrifice being away from our family and work abroad.

In a question of how, the answer is simple: one, we know that we are doing something that is beyond us, this we can endure the hardships and second, we have the ability to be grateful and celebrate our blessings in every small way we can. Pinoys also find strength in each other. You can see that not just here in the Philippines, but also abroad. As they say, there is strength in numbers and we seem to always find a fellow kababayan anywhere we are.
